This is a story about a predator taking advantage of the trust of a naive child. It is veiled by metaphor, much of it is left offscreen, and it ends as quote-unquote “happily” as one could realistically expect. Regardless, the story includes depictions of grooming, coercion, sexual assault and rape. If this subject matter is one you cannot or would rather not engage with, I encourage you to skip this story entirely. Also— there are vampires here. As such, there are major character deaths, mostly minors, and graphic depictions of gore and corpses.
Mental health is another prominent theme. There is self-harm (cutting), suicidal ideation and discussion and depiction of several different forms of suicide.Warnings
